Identification Notes:

life cycle – introduced summer annual, reproducing by seeds

stems – upright, hairy, freely branching near base, somewhat ridged growth habit 1, growth habit 2, stem

leaves – alternate, simple, triangular in outline, three-lobed and coarsely toothed, hairy above and below, margins hairy, red to maroon stain-like markings on midvein, petioles with stipules at base (spurred) leaves 1, leaves 2, spurred stipule

flowers – 5-petaled, pale blue to lavender; axillary, solitary

seedpods – capsule, segment 10 to 20 times seedpod 1, seedpod 2
