Identification Notes:

life cycle – native perennial small tree or shrub, reproducing by seed and colony-forming rhizomes

stems – upright, woody, new growth smooth and often glaucous, bark brown-gray with numerous lenticels growth habit, stems

leaves – alternate, pinnately compound; leaflets 11 to 35, elliptic to lanceolate, serrated margins, dark green above pale below leaves

flowers – pale yellow, small, dioecious, upright panicle, fruit red and velvety when mature on female plants flowers
